I experience the same behavior running Plasma 6.2.0 on Fedora 40 in a qemu VM
with virtio or QXL GPU.
Just opening a System monitor or Firefox makes kwin_wayland load almost all CPU
cores.
No such problem when running on bare metal with NVIDIA GT1030 GPU with
proprietary driver v.560.36.03.
Plasma 6.0 works fine both in VM and on bare metal.
