Bug ID: 494134 Summary: SDR brightness setting affects HDR brightness (Plasma 6.2 beta) Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.1.90 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: colour-management Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: lojcs...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY SDR brightness setting affects HDR brightness (Plasma 6.2 beta) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install kwin 6.1.90-1 2. Enable hdr. 3. Open hdr video in mpv launched with `ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 mpv --vo=gpu-next --target-colorspace-hint --gpu-api=vulkan --gpu-context=waylandvk --player-operation-mode=pseudo-gui --target-gamut=bt.2020` command. 4. Use the sdr brightness slider or kscreen-doctor to change sdr brightness. 5. Brightness of video changes OBSERVED RESULT Brightness of the video changes in relation to the sdr brightness. Opening the same video side by side in normal mpv, the hdr one remains brighter / darker than the same video opened in normal mpv based on the brightness of the video, but is moreso affected by the sdr brightness setting. EXPECTED RESULT Sdr brightness doesn't affect hdr brightness or the setting should be labeled differently SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.6.0 Qt Version: 6.8.0 Kernel Version: 6.10.10-arch1-1 (64-bit) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I've seen https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478860 but this seems to be happening again in plasma 6.2 beta, wasn't sure if I should necro that one so I made a new report. Doesn't happen if I downgrade kwin to 6.1.5-2. Monitor connected to amd igpu via dp. Effect compounds with system tray brightness slider. Possibly related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=494128 (elevated black levels). The SDR brightness slider doesn't affect the black level unless system tray brightness slider is turned low so I filed these seperately. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
