On the authentication needed message - in case anyone else hits the same, I was
working in a VM with KWin 6.1.5 and OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. I had set up automatic
login in yast and then completely forgotten about it before the next reboot.
Funnily enough the automatic login didn't actually enable autologin in getty, I
was still entering my username and password and hence probably why I had
forgotten. But the message was ultimately because kwin wasn't able to get a
hold of the TTY. So if you hit the message coming from DBus about needing
interactive permissions, maybe try flipping any automatic login settings and
see if that resolves it. Some more information logged from the dbus replies
might be nice, if that's possible to obtain. Thanks devj78 for locating the
function for me as your comments here and on the Garuda forum helped.
