Using packages creates a bit problem as --classic snaps apparently uses -rpath which means a huge unmaintainable list of libraries that have to be patched with patchelf. Kate developers don't want this, and I agree with them. So one last approach before I give up, is to build all the dependencies from source and enable patchelf at build time.
