--- Comment #6 from nodsc...@icloud.com --- changing "let couldRetarget = false;" to "let couldRetarget = true;" in /usr/share/kwin/effects/maximize/contents/code/main.js and reloading the effect fixes the issue for me. I don't know what that does though, so the original setting could be doing something else which breaks now.
