When it does happen, I go back into tablet mode and then back to desktop the touchpad responds normally for around 5 seconds and then gets disabled again, best way to fix seems to be a restart. I'm using an Asus Zenbook Flip (UP3404V), going into tablet mode by flipping the keyboard behind the display.
