No? I tried that (the first try, actually, and multiple subsequent ones) and it
just "stuck" at the first "impossible" digit.

This wouldn't be "needed" if "automatically go down to the maximum" actually
worked. But it's always good UI to let the user know of maximum/minimum values
without trial and error in the first place.
