The PS3 controller (and AFAIK Nintendo Wii controller & nunchaks as well) are
quite different. They have to be paired via a wire, at which point the
controller decides when to connect, not the computer. IIUC it's like if the
controller has the keys to the PC, but PC doesn't have to remember about that.
I remember having to pair a PS3 controller with a 8bitdo stick using Windows
OS, so that I could use that 8bitdo stick with Nintendo Switch later, and it
required a custom exe and a cable.

But, I don't know much about it on Linux, and I'll need a real-life PS3
controller to test it.
