Can reproduce. Using Open Sans Medium 11pt or even 10pt. The issue doesn't
persist when using 9pt.
This hints that the widgets don't scale with font sizes, at least from my
limited knowledge on the subject.

I am however using various environment variables and set a DPI under
.Xresources to accomplish a consistent look and feel, here they are:
