yes sure, it will use an older Exiv2 version, but the chunk size problem as
always existed in Exiv2.

Another possibility, is something wrong with the Exif makernotes specificity
not yet managed by Exiv2. Makernotes are block in Exif where camera maker store
private data not documented. 

Which camera generate your JPEG (corrupted). Can you share samples before and
after corruption (use cloud web service please).

And finaly, install DebugView from Microsoft and capture the digiKam log while
corruption appear. Exiv2 can print instrutive messages here. Look this page for
