Our search infrastructure in the weather backend code could use some
improvements, yes. In fact, we just recently discussed in the Matrix #vdg chat
how there is no way to differentiate two cities with the same name within one
country.
Could you give us some examples, which cities were you looking for, and were
not able to select?
According to my observations, Android (Google Pixel Weather report app) shows
the state/region code or name as well, so that might help.
By the way, when reporting bugs, open "About this System" page in System
Settings, and use the Copy Details (in English) button there. Otherwise we
might not know what the "6(latest)" means. For example:
