I logged in normally, then enabled HDR on my monitor to trigger the freeze. If I start with it disabled in the OS, then enable it, it doesn't freeze but the colors are all washed out. I suspect it's not putting the monitor in the correct mode, so I restart my monitor and it freezes. It looks like editing kwinoutputconfig.json while the system is running doesn't work, so I need to boot another OS to disable HDR in the config.
