Instead it behaves as expected even with KDE/Plasma 6 desktop: a single touch into the terminal are brings up Maliit, but then when swiping down to hide Maliit and then using touch scrolling in the terminal window, Maliit stays away as intended. Since kate is also affected but xfce4-terminal is not, I guess that suggests it's not a Plasma issue but rather something with Qt or some KDE Frameworks that's causing this behavior.
