SUMMARY
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the context menu of any shortcut file or icon on the desktop.
2. Go to properties, application tab.
3. Change the text within the 'Name:' entry
OBSERVED RESULT
Icon disappears and is no longer visible on the desktop until plasma shell is
restarted.
This bug is also observed with moving items to the Trash. As I have a
trash.desktop shortcut on my desktop as well.
