SUMMARY
Plasma will crash when trying to edit panels on x.

I will try to add a backtrace later, but due to my whole desktop freezing when
it happens, it poses kind of a challenge to me

There were a lot of crashes, but this one has been the most reproducible one:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enter panel edit mode
2. Edit a widget (I did it with system monitor)
3. Close the menu and move the widget

OBSERVED RESULT
My desktop crashes

EXPECTED RESULT
n/a

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hm ... I apparently use wayland in my system right now, but I switched it

I cannot reproduce the issue right now, so maybe it does not occur with

I don't know when that switch back occurred.
