This problem appears to be fixed by the NVidia 555 driver (555.42.02) in
combination with KDE Plasma 6.1. I assume the flickering was due to the NVidia
driver (and kwin) not yet supporting explicit sync.
So I suppose this issue is now resolved/fixed. Awesome!
