I apologize for making a post unrelated to the bug at hand, but I believe that
this kind of lockup is related to the system's dirty_bytes settings. If you are
using a system that uses the default Linux Kernel values. like Arch Linux, and
have a lot of memory, the default values can cause huge blocking synchronous
writes. Try looking at the following for guidance:
