STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set the panel to autohide
2. Change desktop/workspace

OBSERVED RESULT
Very high GPU utilisation (looking at intel_gpu_top) which makes the whole
system slow
EXPECTED RESULT
GPU utilisation as normal
