Bug ID: 484830 Summary: Program windows of some crashed processes persist Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.0.2 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: w...@toki.la Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY On occasion, windows of crashed processes stick around. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Cause the "Apostrophe" GNOME app to crash. (This is likely not reproducible.) 2. Select "Terminate Apostrophe" when prompted. OBSERVED RESULT Observe that while the app terminates - it is no longer listed as a running process - its window persists. Further prompts to terminate the app can be elicited by repeatedly trying to close it. (They reference a process ID that no longer exists.) The window is not resizable, and attempting to do so results in strange temporary artificating, but it can be moved around. EXPECTED RESULT KWin recognizes that the process terminated and closes the window. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux: 6.6.21 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2 KDE Frameworks Version: unclear Qt Version: 6.6.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I suspect this is weird behavior around programs with client-side decorations... or perhaps something strange around GNOME as a whole. It is very strange that KWin doesn't recognize that the program has closed when the rest of the system does, but I don't know how it's checking for that. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
