Bug ID: 484501 Summary: X11 - Panel with adaptive transparency lags animations when switching between transparent and opaque Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.0.2 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: platform-x11-standalone Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: gonzalofari...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 167776 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=167776&action=edit Notice the difference between having a window already miximized and maximizing a window when you can still see the wallpaper; also the difference after switching from "adaptive" to "transparent" SUMMARY When a panel's transparency is set to adaptive and it switches between opaque and transparent (by maximizing a window, for example), all effects and animations become noticeably slower during the process. This doesn't happen when the panel is set to opaque or transparent. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. On X11, set a panel's transparency to "adaptive". 2. Enable window animations such as "lamp". 3. Maximize and restore a window. OBSERVED RESULT Animations become noticeably slower. EXPECTED RESULT Animations should be as fluid as always. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux: 6.8.1-arch1-1 (64 bits) KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 X11 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Using an Nvidia graphics card with latest stable (550.67) proprietary driver. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
