I don't think regular people care about this sort of thing or even notice the difference between wi-fi generations. It's also not actionable; say you connect to a wi-fi 5 network, but you'd prefer it to be 6... what can you do? Nothing! The wi-fi generation is baked into the hardware of the network router itself, not to mention your wi-fi receiver hardware. In addition, there's not much room in these icons. Some already have a badge in the bottom right corner so a number would have to go elsewhere, further reducing space for the wi-fi signal indicator lines.
