These aren't assumptions we can make, sorry. People can and do use their
laptops in dim environments during the day, and when it's nighttime, they
commonly turn on a light so they can still see, making keyboard backlighting
unnecessary. The only time when keyboard backlighting is necessary is when
conditions are dim, which much be detected, not assumed. For this, we would
need support for automatic brightness control via a photosensor, and also the
hardware would need to include such a sensor.
