It sounds like you blew up your system by trying to work around a bug rather
than reporting it properly the first time it happened. :) Unfortunately that
can happen when you mess with things you don't fully understand. This is one of
the reasons why immutable distros exist and are gaining popularity. In the
future I'd recommend submitting a bug report first rather than going looking
for a workaround, which can have harmful results if not done carefully. In the
meantime, I'd recommend posting a request for help on a Debian-specific forum
or else https://discuss.kde.org and hopefully people in one of those places
can help you recover. Best of luck!
