Seems to have been fixed with the update to xdg-utils_1.2.1-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build5_all.deb that was installed today. Also had update to google chrome to again install for some reason in a strange coincidence. It installed perfectly this time after I installed xdg-utils first to see if the brokenness continued when installing the chrome after it.
