Bug ID: 480773 Summary: Allow to disable only determining mimetypes from extensions on remote FS's Classification: Frameworks and Libraries Product: frameworks-kio Version: 5.249.0 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kio-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: magunasu....@gmail.com CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY With kio 5.249.0 I can no longer open plain text documents on my NFS share as they're lacking a file extension. Trying to set a default application also fails. An option to disable this behavior would be greatly appreciated. Reverting https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kio/-/commit/8232925163748c31d95ccc3466a6790d325c3f08 solves the issue but is not really practical to have to re-compile the application for every version. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Mount remote filesystem (sshfs, nfs) 2. Try to open or set default application for plain text file without extension 3. Dolphin etc will try to open it in some random application and no default can be set OBSERVED RESULT Extensionless files cannot be easily opened on remote filesystems EXPECTED RESULT kio should rely on mimetype when no extension is present, at the very least SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.93.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.249.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 Kernel Version: 6.7.3-zen1-2-zen (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor Memory: 47.0 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
