The album date has very little to do with the actual folder date. It is more
oriented towards the images included. You can specify whether to use the
newest, oldest, or an average date of the items in the album. We will not
change this behavior.
But since digiKam-8.0.0 we also have the album modification date/time in the
database. So there would be a possibility that we could add the album
modification date/time as an additional sorting option.
