You can test it with kid3-git20231129 from https://sourceforge.net/projects/kid3/files/kid3/development/. The audio output will be switched if the preferred audio device is configured or plugged in or plugged out. What from this works depends on the backend. On Linux, audio device changes do not seem to be signaled for the ALSA and PulseAudio backends. On Windows, it seems to work fine.
