I accidentally pressed the right and the left mouse buttons at the same time
over the text editor area. Kate immediately crashed.
I think I pressed the right one first. I don't know whether the mouse moved
slightly over the context menu in the meantime (where the first action would be
Cut), nor if anything was selected. Pressing both of them at the same time is
NOT configured to emulate middle click. It's a regular mouse (not touchpad),
and the system is X11.
The crash does not seem to be reproducible.
