I edited the offending rc-file line by line and this is the offending line in the section [Thumbnails]: [Thumbnails] ... showNewestThumbnailFirst=true When I remove only this line, sorting does not crash anymore. Adding this line should trigger the crash. Completely removing the rc-file and starting from scratch solves this problem as well but then you have to re-do all your settings.
