I had selected 'Wayland' initially and the crashes appeared. I have now selected 'X' and the plasma crashes have disappeared. Sorry for any inconvenience. I am reusing Linux and KDE and I just wanted to participate in assisting with any issues. The crash report is attached but my issue appears to have now been solved.
