So I would say It's clearly more than just making device annoying to use (otherwise the Bedtime mode on Android would be just a utterly huge overlay that says "You need to sleep now" that pops up every single minute). There's a semi-broken third-party effect on kde store: https://store.kde.org/p/1263836/ the grayscale part still works.
