This is a bug, not a feature as can be shown by the fact that saving the file, restarting kdenlive and reloading it shows the inserted clip (audio or video, does not matter, this bug hits both types) in the correct position. I'll try to rig up a demonstration and send the project file if I can get it to reliably reproduce the bug.
