The dot currently comes from the active font. Doing what you propose turns out
to be surprisingly challenging without deleting that architecture entirely and
using custom dots. Doing so is possible, but would have to be implemented in
multiple places that are then kept in sync, and would result in a higher
overall maintenance burden over time. So I don't think it's worth it, sorry.
