Hi, I am adding for posterity's sake a few more lines. I'm on Linux Mint 18
XFCE. I love Gwenview, and I installed it. It turns out that a lot of extra KDE
stuff needs to be installed to make Gwenview run properly, so I'm not even
going to try to list them all. Simply put, the packages mentioned above, namely
kinit and kio, helped, but didn't solve it. I finally found a real working
solution for my scenario over here:
https://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/gwenview-findet-den-pfad-der-bilder-nicht/
It is in German, but basically, after installing kinfocenter along with all
it's dependencies and rebooting the error popup that started this discussion
was finally cured. Hopefully this may help another user who needs a guiding
hand in the dark which KDE on non-KDE systems can be sometimes.
