In both cases the widget is placed directly on the panel. The widget on my desktop has a "remove all" button on top when removable devices are attached, whereas on the laptop there is no such button. This is despite both computers running the same version of Plasma, Frameworks and Qt (now respectively 5.27.6, 5.108.0 and 5.15.10).
