I didn't declare this right away because I don't think that it is the issue. I have used VMware for years and never had a problem. If you understand how it works the OS doesn't know that it is in a Virtual Machine; it thinks that it is running on actual hardware. The Virtual Machine is very complete; it even has BIOS!
