Bug ID: 469503 Summary: UX: Disable window snapping back to old position in layout mode "none" Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: effects-present-windows Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: k...@fuchsnet.ch Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Technically the bug can be reproduced in "desktop grid", but code-wise I think it's in present windows. As per user requests due to this having been missing in the QML rewrite, a new layout mode "None" was implemented, so that windows in desktop grid (which triggers the present window effect) have their original size and position so they can be moved around. This was implemented in the last release, however, moving windows around (on the current virtual desktop, not moving it to other desktops) does not work as expected, as the windows always snap back to their previous position when moved. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Configure desktop grid to have the window layout "None" 2. Trigger desktop grid 3. Try to move a window to a new position OBSERVED RESULT Window snaps to a previous / fixed position EXPECTED RESULT Window is _exactly_ where the user places it and stays there Operating System: Fedora Linux 38 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.105.0 Qt Version: 5.15.9 Kernel Version: 6.2.14-300.fc38.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
