The video file format support is partial in Exiv2 and ExifTool, this is why
ffmpeg is used to capture important information from file to populate the
database. These information are available in metadata sidebar as to be
homogeneous.

Again video file format metadata support is not perfect in the metadata
engines. So if you enable the XMP sidecar support, you will able to do what you
want with video metadata. See the online documentation for details :
