Bug ID: 468844 Summary: KWin Wayland froze my GPU when using Kate editor Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 5.27.4 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: wayland-generic Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: akse...@akselmo.dev Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 158346 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=158346&action=edit Logs from when Kwin Wayland session froze my GPU SUMMARY I do not exactly remember what happened, but when I moved mouse to the integrated terminal in Kate, my screen froze. I could still heard sounds as I was listening to a podcast at the same time. After some while there was minor artifacting in the screen where Kate was, but screen was still frozen. I then pressed ctrl+alt+backspace to kill the Wayland session. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Unfortunately I have no detailed reproducing steps, but it seems to have something to do with moving mouse between GPU accelerated applications, such as Terminal and Kate, especially if the other app is embedded inside the other. OBSERVED RESULT Screen freezes and minor artifacting occurs. EXPECTED RESULT Screen would not freeze. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 38 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.104.0 Qt Version: 5.15.9 Kernel Version: 6.2.11-300.fc38.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor Memory: 15,5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6600 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I have provided logs in attachment.
