On version 22.12.3 I wasn't able to get Dolphin to crash with a small .mkv
file, however the preview would not play at all.
According to bug 442590, the reporter was able to get the preview working by
installing gstreamer-plugins-libav. Does installing this package (or its
equivalent for your distribution) solve the problem?
The reporter also mentioned that .ts files don't preview even with the package
installed, however I don't have any videos of this file type to test with.
