left- 'Force convert to 8 bit', right - manual merge and convert to 8 bit
I've attached a comparison between the two. For some reason, selecting 'Force
convert to 8-bit' when exporting as a PNG compresses the image significantly
more than manually flattening the image and changing the bit depth to 8 bit.
