Interesting. I wonder if you have a kdeglobals file elsewhere with a bad
ScaleFactor line in it that the system is falling back to when you remove your
local override for that line.
Can you paste the output of:
sudo find / -type f -name kdeglobals -exec grep -H 'ScaleFactor=' {} \;
