Isn’t the output supposed to be just images in the selected album(s) that have that tag? If you run the gallery creation tool again it seems to be impossible to remove tags, or albums, which were used on previous occasions. I’m not able to capture the output displayed by the HTML Gallery tool and I don’t know how to capture all of the output from digikam in terminal.
