The only way around it I've found so far (short of loginctl) is, when you wake the screens, type your password and hit enter twice. If you hit enter too slowly the second time, then it won't work. This is on Plasma 5.26, Frameworks 5.98, and Qt 5.15.6; as packaged by Debian Testing. If it at all matters, I've got an NVMe SSD for the root drive, and an MDADM RAID 6 of 5400RPM HDDs for /home...
