Thanks, but it still adds to workflow if you have plenty of pictures to
tag/rate and there's increased possibility of lost data, which I think I've
likely lost many times and many beginners do.

Same applies if I press caption and use ctrl+Number. 

When choosing rating first and caption last, all goes as intended, but doesn't
work opposite way. While in code that may make difference it shouldn't be for
user. There's simply no reason for this behavior. All changes made to selected
item should be "cached" wherever these changes are made not depending of order,
and all should be saved what is added to display. If such behavior is too
difficult to implement UI shouldn't in first place behave as if it's accepting
all different things added, and then just reject saving some of them without
clear notice.
