AFAIK we actually have a consensus among Dolphin contributors that we would want this as a default behaviour if it were to be implemented correctly. Unfortunately implementing this correctly is somewhat difficult. You see, if we don't save the .directory files within the folders but at a local location, renaming or moving of a folder would make us lose the view properties for this folder.
