SUMMARY
.desktop files belonging to a directory other than ~/Desktop are not opened
correctly from the desktop when the desktop is set to use a folder other than
~/Desktop (Configure Desktop and Wallpaper... > Location > Show > Custom
location instead of Desktop folder).
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy a .desktop file from your desktop to ~/testtop
2. Set the desktop to use ~/testtop as a custom location
3. Attempt to open the desktop file
OBSERVED RESULT
Window:
Plasma: What do you wish to do with this file? Open/Execute/Cancel
EXPECTED RESULT
Just launch the application, as it would from ~/Desktop/

Please move this bug as necessary. I'm not certain that Desktop Containment is
the correct component, or that plasmashell is necessarily the correct product.
