            Bug ID: 458725
Summary: Provide an option to always show text on normal (not
                    icon-only) task manager
           Product: plasmashell
           Version: master
          Platform: Kubuntu Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
Component: Task Manager and Icons-Only Task Manager
          Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
          Reporter: brenb...@brenbarn.net
  Target Milestone: 1.0

KDE provides an icon-only task manager and a "normal" task manager which shows
the window title on each taskbar entry. But when a large number of windows
open, KDE switches to showing only the icon on the taskbar. It does this even
though there is clearly room to still show text on the taskbar buttons. For
instance, on my system, with 10 tasks on the taskbar, it shows about 6
characters of each window title (plus a "..." indicating truncation), and the
icon for each taskbar button is aligned to the left. But then if I open one
more window, all the entries switch to a different layout with the icon in the
middle and no text at all.

I would like an option to make KDE not do this at all. I *always* want to see
as much of the window title as will fit on the taskbar button, even if it's
only one character. I should be able to have at least twice as many items on
the taskbar as I currently have, while still seeing a bit of text on each.

I choose to use the regular task manager because I don't want an icon-only task
manager. I don't want the taskbar to switch to showing only icons under any
circumstances.
