I have the same problem (although DrKonqi doesn't seem to pick it up for me)
with the following setup:

OS: Fedora 36
KDE Plasma: 5.25.4
KDE Frameworks: 5.96.0
Qt: 5.15.5
Kernel: 5.18.16-200.fc36.x86_64
Graphics: Wayland

 When, I launch kate from a terminal and open Settings -> Configure Kate... to
cause the crash, I get the following output

QSocketNotifier: Can only be used with threads started with QThread
qt.qpa.wayland: Wayland does not support QWindow::requestActivate()
KCrash: Application 'kate' crashing...
The Wayland connection experienced a fatal error: Bad file descriptor
