This is what I did.

Back then they designed a simple, practical, sleek launcher (now referred to as
"Legacy" Kickoff), which works great. I still don't understand why they needed
to replace it with this new launcher. It appears to be going backwards in
usability and practicality, in which they actually need to add even more
complexities to try and undo some of the inferior behaviors. (Smaller targets.
Poor default presentation. "Triangle" filter to try and predict if the user
wants to access her favorites or browse the categories. Etc. Etc. Etc.)
Seriously, just watch the video I linked to in my original post.

The only problem in regards to sticking with the Legacy Launcher is that it's
no longer maintained, and might break compatibility with a future KDE release.
